SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pediatrics, and can be used for diagnosing exacerbation of chronic suppurative otitis media in pediatric outpatient practice in the absence of an otolaryngologist. In children from 10 to 18 years old, subject to a history of ear pain, recurrent purulent otitis media, a complete blood count is performed. After that, the index of leukocyte shift (LSI) and the marker of viral infections (MVI) are calculated according to the formulas: LSI = (eosinophils + basophils + myelocytes + metamyelocytes + stab + segmented)/(monocytes + lymphocytes); MVI = (lymphocytes %)/(monocytes %). When LSI is less than 1.5 and MVI is 5.8 or more, an exacerbation of chronic suppurative otitis media is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables simple, effective, cost-effective diagnosis of exacerbation of chronic purulent otitis media in children by performing a general blood test and using calculated diagnostic formulas.
