FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: described is a method for detecting Hendra henipavirus RNA by real-time RT-PCR. Method includes extraction of RNA from biological samples, followed by a two-step reverse transcription reaction and a polymerase chain reaction for the target RNA fragments of the viral genome using a set of oligonucleotide primers and a corresponding fluorescent labelled probe, complementary to a section of the gene coding nucleocapsid protein N of Hendra virus.
EFFECT: development of a highly sensitive method for identifying Hendra virus RNA in biological samples.
