FIELD: image encoding technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image encoding technology based on image encoding system transformation. Disclosed is a method of decoding images, which comprises the following steps: extracting quantised transform coefficients relative to the target block from the bit stream; performing inverse quantization with respect to the quantised transform coefficients with respect to the target block and extracting the transform coefficients; extraction of residual samples relative to target block based on reduced inverse transformation relative to transformation coefficients and generating the reconstructed image based on the residual samples relative to the target block and the prediction samples relative to the target block. Reduced inverse transformation is performed based on matrix of reduced inverse transformation, where size of matrix is equal to N×R, where each of N and R is a positive integer and R is less than N.
EFFECT: high efficiency of decoding images.
