METHOD FOR EARLY DETECTION OF ACTIVATION OF NASAL MUCOSA AND PARANASAL SINUS REMODELLING PATHWAYS IN POLYPOUS RHINOSINUSITIS Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC G01N33/68 G01N33/573

Abstract RU 2833125 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and can be used for early detection of remodelling of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses in polypous rhinosinusitis. Patient’s blood is sampled to obtain serum, and periostin concentration in blood serum is determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Initial blood periostin level is determined in case of primary suspicion of polypous rhinosinusitis. Obtained initial periostin level is compared with the established reference values. If the concentration of periostin is increased relative to the reference value, remodelling of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses is detected. Repeated measurements of periostin concentration are made after the beginning of conservative treatment and at the following stages of treatment in dynamics with intervals of 3-6 months, changes of periostin level are assessed. If the level of periostin decreases relative to the initial values, a decrease in the degree of remodelling of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses is detected.

EFFECT: method enables early detection of activation of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses remodelling pathways by monitoring the concentration of periostin in the blood serum, which allows starting therapeutic interventions before the onset of morphological changes in the mucosa and evaluating the effectiveness of the treatment based on the dynamics of the periostin level.
