FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of capacity of a vertical steel tank during verification by a geometrical method. In the method for determining the vertical steel tank capacity error, measurements are additionally carried out with a laser range finder mounted on a tripod using an adapter for setting inclination angles – deviations, using a screw, adjusting the height of the laser range finder to measure the distance to the first belt of the vertical steel tank, corresponding to 3/4 of the height of the first belt of this vertical steel tank, then, using a micrometre screw, the installation angle of the laser range finder is changed to aim at the measurement points of the radial deviations of the upper belts of the vertical steel tank structure; after taking the measurements, the radial deviations of the vertical tank are calculated. Obtained radial deviations are used to calculate the vertical steel tank capacity error using the expanded uncertainty calculation.

EFFECT: improving accuracy of the method of determining error of capacity of vertical cylindrical tanks during verification by a geometrical method.
