FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, in particular to a genetically modified LEPR gene knockout rabbit. Said rabbit is designed to create a model of morbid obesity and lipid and carbohydrate metabolism disorders and carries a deletion in the rabbit LEPR gene, including part of exon 10, intron 10 and part of exon 11. Present invention also relates to a method of producing said genetically modified rabbit using a CRISPR/Cas9 system.

EFFECT: present invention provides genetic modification (deletion) in the rabbit genome in the LEPRgene locus.
