SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to ophthalmology, and can be used for prevention of complications of penetrating keratoplasty. Patient’s cognitive status is examined using the Mini-Mental State Examination. Dry eye syndrome is diagnosed by Schirmer’s test or Norn’s test. Mycological examination of fingernails and skin scrapings of the patient's fingers is carried out by microscopy, culture or polymerase chain reaction. If cognitive impairments are detected, a training session on formation of eye care skills in the postoperative period is carried out for the patient and cohabiting relatives. If observing mycosis of skin and nails, the patient undergoes a therapeutic course of mycosis before the operation. If observing moderate and severe dry eye syndrome, the patient undergoes complex treatment of dry eye syndrome.

EFFECT: method enables preventing various complications of perforating keratoplasty with high efficiency; besides, the presented method is accurate and safe to implement.
