FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used to control melting in steel making in arc steel furnace. Method uses in real time technological information of previous melts: the amount of oxygen for refining from the beginning of melting, nm3; gas consumption from the beginning of melting by the refining combined burner, nm3; amount of heat absorbed by cooling water, standard units; consumption of oxygen from the beginning of melting by the refining combined burner, for melting, nm3, wherein process information of previous melts is fed to mathematical modelling unit to calculate oxygen activity Y of molten metal in arc furnace bath by regression analysis. Obtained value of oxygen activity Y is analysed by comparing it with the required value of the range of activity of oxygen of the molten metal according to the reference information and supply of oxygen for refining is stopped from the beginning of melting, gas and oxygen from the beginning of melting by the refining combined burner when the calculated oxygen activity of the required range is achieved.
EFFECT: invention increases accuracy of continuous determination of oxygen activity of molten metal in a bath of an arc steel-making furnace.
