SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to experimental surgery, and can be used for blood sampling in small laboratory animals. Animal is placed on platform, covered with transparent chamber and fixed. Head is treated with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and the working eye is treated with chlorhexidine. In the area of the inner corner of the eye, 22 G needle with length of 1.6 or 3.2 cm, pre-treated with heparin, is inserted into the retroorbital venous plexus at angle of 28-30° to the surface of the nose at depth of 15-22 mm.

EFFECT: method enables performing the manipulations from the retroorbital venous plexus with minimizing the traumatic exposure eliminating a risk of foreign contamination, with repeating the blood sampling procedure, if necessary, on the following day from the orbit of the second eye.
