METHOD OF CONTINUOUS CASTING OF INGOT SLABS Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding metal into a gap between a driven drum, separate rims and an endless belt, embracing the rims; forming an ingot in radial direction between the drum, the belt and the lateral rims; performing deformation of the ingot by reduction it in a liquid-solid state; drawing the ingot with a variable speed; supporting and directing the belt by roller and rolls; tensioning the belt by motion of one of rolls; upon continuous casting process measuring a displacement of the belt relative to the ingot along axis of the rolls and at a beginning period of the belt displacement relative to the ingot along axis of the rolls simultaneously symmetrically increasing and decreasing tension values of the belt on journals of one of the rolls by 13-20% of its operating value in such a way, that tension decreasing is being performed on the journal, arranged at a side of the end of the roll, towards which the belt is being displaced, and increasing at the opposite side.
