FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, processes of preparation of raw materials for blast-furnace heat. SUBSTANCE: the offered method of two-layer sintering of sinter burden includes successive supply onto moving sintering cars of two layers of sinter burden of different thicknesses, subsequent igniting of burden and building up rarefaction under sintering cars. Prior to sintering, subject to additional determination of content of sinter burden of fraction smaller than 1 mm in each layer and burden is sintered with varying speed of movement of sintering cars determined by the following relation V = K x H x n/h x N, where V is speed of movement of sintering cars, m/min; H and h are thicknesses of the lower and upper layers of burden, respectively, mm; N and n are contents of fraction less than 1 mm in sinter burden in lower and upper layers, respectively, %; K is empirically determined coefficient characterizing the rate of sintering of burden in both layers equalling 1.3-4.0. EFFECT: higher stability and productivity of sintering process, increased strength of produced sinter and yield of sinter. 1 tbl
