FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, production of raw materials for blast furnace smelting. SUBSTANCE: method of two-layer sintering of sinter burden includes successive supply onto moving sintering cars of two layers of sinter burden of different thickness values and with different content in each of moisture; subsequent ignition of burden and building up of rarefaction under sintering cars. Burden is sintered at varying speed of movement of sintering cars determined by the following relationship: V = K(Hq/hQ), where V is speed of movement of sintering cars, m/min; H, h are thickness values of burden lower and upper layers, respectively, mm; Q, q are content values of moisture in burden lower and upper layers, respectively, %; K is empirical coefficient characterizing the rate of burden sintering and equalling 1.4-4.7 m/min. EFFECT: higher stability and productivity of sintering machine, increased strength of ready sinter and sinter yield, reduced consumption of fuel and iron charge.
