FIELD: metallurgy; more specifically, processes of production of raw material for blast-furnace smelting. SUBSTANCE: method of two-layer sintering of sinter burden includes successive supply to moving sintering cars of two layers of sinter burden of different thickness and with different content of moisture in them, subsequent ignition of burden and building up of rarefaction under sintering cars. Ratio of thickness of burden layers is h/H = K(Q/q), where H, h are thickness values of burden lower and upper layers, respectively, %; K is empirical dimensionless coefficient characterizing rate of sintering of burden in both layers and equalling 0.4-2.4. EFFECT: higher stability and productivity of process of sintering of sinter burden, and increased strength of produced sinter and sinter yield. 1 tbl
