SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting mixture of isomers with L-or D-tartaric acid in organic solvent containing dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) amount sufficient to precipitate correspondingly DMSO-solvate of tartaric acid salt and R-(+)-amplodipin or DMSO-solvate of D-tartaric acid salt and S-(-)-amplodipin. New compounds, e.g. mono-DMSO-solvate of (S)-(-)-amplodipin-hemi-D-tertrate, mono-DMSO-solvate of R-(+)-amplodipin-hemi-L-tartrate, monohydrate of (S)-(-)-amplodipin-hemi-D-tartate, and monohydrate of (R)-(+)-amplodipin-hemi-L-tartrate which are calcium passage blocking agents of prolonged activity and are useful for treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
