FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: hexafluoroethane is prepared by fluorination of tetrafluoroethylene with fluorine in inert liquid. Process is carried out in fluorine containing liquid at temperatures ranging from minus 55 C to minus 80 C in the presence of difluoromethane and trifluoroethylene total content of which is 1×10-5-2,1×10-2 vol % based on original tetrafluoroethylene.
