FIELD: electrotechnical industry.
SUBSTANCE: gas-discharge lamp consists of burner from optically transparent material, which is filled with inertial gas and mercury, in every end of which main and auxiliary electrode is installed hermetically, which is connected to the opposite main electrode through limiting resistor. Limiting resistor is installed outside the area between planes that pass through ends of burner and are perpendicular to burner longitudinal axis. Resistor axis crosses external surface of burner, which corresponds to distance between electrodes, at that minimum distance from limiting resistor to burner, burner power in nominal mode of operation and area of burner surface are connected by the following ratio: where: Pb - burner power, watt; Sb - area of burner surface, cm2; Lmin - minimum distance from limiting resistor to burner surface, cm; K - coefficient of proportionality equal to 1.0, which has dimension - cm3/watt.
EFFECT: reduction of lamp production prime cost.
