FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in pouring carbon semi-product produced of vanadium iron in converter, in oxygen lancing from top or in combined blowing with oxygen from top and inert gas from below. In the first half of blowing to a bath of the converter there is added magnesia material with ratio CaO to MgO not over 2.0 at amount facilitating concentration of MgO in slag of 5-9 % at basicity 2-5. Further, there is added magnesia material in the last third of blowing with ratio of CaO to MgO not over 0.3 at amount facilitating increase of contents of MgO in final slag to 10-14 %.
EFFECT: improved slag condition of converter melting, improved conditions of dephosphorisation of metal, reduced metal build-up on oxygen tuyeres and losses of metal with carry-overs and exhausts.
