SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to a method for preparing 10,11-dihydro-10-oxo-5N-dibenz/b,f/azepine-5-carboxamide from carbamazepine and may be used in pharmaceutical industry. The presented method implies preparing 10,11-dihydro-10-oxo-5N-dibenz/b,f/azepine-5-carboxamide by oxidation of 10,11-dihydro-10-hydroxy-5H-dibenz/b,f/azepine-5-carboxamide by peroxyacetic acid in the presence of a metal-based catalyst in an inert solvent.
