SUBSTANCE: method is provided to control the unit production cycle for building of tires for vehicle wheels. Moreover, the unit comprises a storage area for the annular reinforcing structures and a plurality of processing stations, one of which is associated with the forming drum. The method comprising the steps of: a) a plurality of reinforcing annular structures is served to the storage area, b) reinforcing annular structure is selected from a storage area in a predetermined matching position which is not changed when changing the type of reinforcing annular structures, c) reinforcing annular structures are served to the processing station associated with the forming drum. Wherein step a) includes the step of serving a plurality of groups of annular reinforcing structures to the storage area, wherein step b) is set for each group.

EFFECT: provision of constant tires quality when changing the type of reinforcing structures.
