WATER-PROCESSED SILICONE-CONTAINING FORPOLYMERS AND OPTIONS FOR THEIR USE Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G02C7/04 C08G77/42 C08G77/442 C08G77/20

Abstract RU 2638545 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing silicone hydrogel contact lenses is provided, comprising the steps of (1) introducing a lens composition into a contact lens form, wherein the composition forming the lens contains one or more hydrophilic vinyl monomers; a polysiloxane-containing polymerizable material to be subjected to aqueous processing, selected from a siloxane-containing vinyl monomer, a crosslinker and combinations thereof, wherein the said monomers and crosslinks have a specific structure; a solvent selected from water, 1,2-propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol with a number average molecular weight of 400 daltons or less; (2) polymerizing the composition of the lens in a mould. The produced contact lens is characterized by the level of water content of 20-75 wt % when fully hydrated, an oxygen permeability of, at least, 40 barrero, and having a hydrophilic surface, showing the average water contact angle of 90 degrees or less, without carrying out a surface treatment after moulding.

EFFECT: resulting lenses are manufactured using ophthalmologically compatible and environmentally friendly solvents, and the forms used can be washed with aqueous systems.
