FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a measurement technique and can be used for contactless measurement of the length of extended metal articles, in particular metal pipes as finished products, and during their manufacture. Device for measuring the length of an extended metal product comprises a metal plane with an inspected controlled product placed above it, the combination of which forms a length of a long line, an oscillator of fixed frequency electromagnetic oscillations connected by a communication line to one of the ends of a long line segment, coupled directional couplers for direct and reflected electromagnetic waves, the output of each of which is connected to the corresponding input of the phase detector, the recorder. In order to achieve the technical result, a unit is included for measuring the phase velocity of electromagnetic waves and a computing device, the output of the phase detector is connected to the first input of the computing device, to the second input of which the output of the block for measuring the phase velocity of electromagnetic waves is connected, and to the output – the recorder.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is device functionality enhancement due to the increased accuracy in measuring the length of the extended metal product.
