FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to electrical engineering and power electronics, in particular to static converters of electric energy, built as per scheme of two-link electric converters. Target is achieved by the fact that a frequency contactor circuit and new connections are added to the frequency converter circuit to allow controlled charging and discharge of the storage capacitor and to use the charging resistor as a charging resistor and as a braking and discharging circuit resistor. There appears modularity, versatility and unification of the used element base, as well as charging and discharge process of the storage capacitor of the frequency converter.
EFFECT: technical result is expansion of functional capabilities of frequency converter with minimum number of elements, improving reliability, efficiency and improving operational characteristics, performing the possibility of controlled charge and discharge of the storage capacitor by command from the control system; in addition, the proposed frequency converter allows for rather simple diagnostics of short circuit presence and stop the storage capacitor charging in case of an emergency situation.
