FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a system and a method for monitoring the height of a recess and the volume of material to be removed for a mining machine. Proposed method comprises stages whereat mining machine is operated so that it can cut into working face by shearing motion at multiple cutting locations. For each of the plurality of cutting locations, the manipulator arm height data is formed using the manipulator arm height sensor mounted on the mining machine manipulator arm. Power consumption data is generated using a power sensor. Method includes determining, by means of electronic controller, time of beginning of cutting on the basis of time of start of electric motor of conveyor, determining time of stop of electric motor of conveyor, determining whether relocation occurs or not. When relocation occurs, time of cutting termination is determined on the basis of time of stop of electric motor of conveyor and relocation time, stored in memory connected with electronic processor, cutting start time, cutting termination time, manipulator arm height data and power consumption data. Mining machine operation is controlled on the basis of cutting start time, cutting termination time, manipulator arm height data and power consumption data for at least one of multiple cutting areas.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of wear of production equipment, reduced costs due to excessive extraction.
