FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding, particularly to submarine vehicles which break up ice cover using a resonance method. Method of ice cover destruction consists in excitation of resonant flexural-gravity waves by submarine in ice, wherein hydrophobic coating is installed on ship hull on upper surface of its nose end. Coating periodically with frequency of resonant flexural-gravity waves is closed and exposed by means of screen for a time equal to half of period of these waves.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of ice destruction by an underwater ship is achieved.
