FIELD: driving assistance.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a vehicle control method and a vehicle control device. A driving assistance method for a vehicle, executed by a processor, contains a stage of detecting a merge point, at which a lane that merges and a lane, with which the merger is carried out, merge, wherein the lane that merges is a lane, in which the vehicle in question is moving, and the lane, with which the merger is carried out, is adjacent to the lane that merges. However, when another vehicle is detected moving in the lane, with which the merger is carried out, towards the merge point, behind this other vehicle, an inflow position of the vehicle in question at the merge point is installed in order to perform merge control, when the length of the lane that merges is less than a predetermined length. A driving assistance device for the vehicle contains a processor.
EFFECT: improved vehicle safety is achieved.
