FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of delivering nucleic acid into a cell, involving incubation of said cells with carbon quantum dots linked to nucleic acid. Carbon quantum dots are bound to nucleic acid by sequential deposition of a positively charged polymer and nucleic acid on the surface of carbon quantum dots by increasing the ionic strength of the solution containing nucleic acid and a suspension of carbon quantum dots.
EFFECT: invention provides a method for delivering nucleic acids into a cell, which enables to track their penetration into cells using standard laboratory equipment, such as a fluorescent microscope, and is characterized by a fast procedure and a simple purification step.
